Pastoral Care Committee

The goal of the Pastoral Care Committee is to provide spiritual, emotional and practical support to those facing challenging situations.

By bringing together those parishioners who currently visit and pray with the sick and those in prison, bring Eucharist to the homebound, provide hospitality for funerals, walk with those who are grieving, provide needed medical supplies and pray for those in need, we provide support for each other and are better able to discern other areas of parish pastoral need.

We look forward to seeing where we are called to be in the future.

Visiting Ministry

Parish Visiting Ministers are the Hands of Christ to those hospitalized or homebound due to illness or immobility.

Visiting Ministers offer prayers and the Eucharist, and spend time visiting and connecting with those unable to worship with us during Mass.

This ministry is a great privilege, helping to build a bridge between those at home  and the rest of our CCSFX faith community.

If you or your loved one would like a visit, email the Visiting Ministry Team at [email protected], complete a contact form (CLICK HERE), or contact the parish office.

Grief Ministry

Grief Ministry welcomes anyone who has experienced loss or is struggling with the process of grief.

We have a facilitated small group approach, the aim of which is to help those present accompany one another.

Six week sessions are held several times a year.

At present sessions are designed for those who have lost a spouse, however information and resources are available for those experiencing other areas of loss.

For information, please contact Ann Marie Labin at [email protected]

Prayer Shawl/Lap Blanket/Prayer Square Ministry

“Shawls… made for centuries, universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditional Loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter, and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted andaffirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles…”  Janet Bristow, 1998 © 2004

Join our CCSFX Prayer Shawl Ministry, established in 2022, where we create prayer shawls, lap blankets, and prayer squares to offer comfort and support. Each project is an act of spiritual practice, beginning with a prayer for its recipient.

Our homemade items bring solace to those undergoing medical procedures, recovering from illness, experiencing trauma, or in need of healing. They are given to patients, abuse victims, individuals coping with loss, and those in bereavement. They are used for prayer, meditation, bridal showers, marriage ceremonies, and birthing or nursing infants. They can be made to minister to others or simply to socialize.

o Prayer Shawls: Any shape or pattern is welcome. Choose a favorite pattern and pray as you work. Find brochures about Prayer Shawl ministry in the Gathering Space.

o Lap Blankets: Made for male recipients, each lap blanket is sent with a prayer of comfort and card.

Prayer Shawls and Lap Blankets are delivered to ICU patients at Good Samaritan Hospital.

o Prayer Squares: Created from leftover yarn, these 3 1/2” squares carry messages of hope as cards let recipients know we are praying for them. They are available at the Parish Office and distributed during Healing Masses.

Martha and Mary Ministry

The Martha and Mary Ministry offers comfort and support to our registered parishioners through hospitality.

We work closely with the family to provide and serve a reception after the funeral for the family and friends of the deceased.

Information is provided as part of the funeral planning process.

For information, please contact Cheryl Barrows at [email protected]

Funeral Hospitality

Parish ministers extend a warm spirit of welcome and compassion to those attending funeral liturgies.

Volunteers greet the family and friends,  set-up water hospitality and help the family with last minute details.

Their presence is an added comfort for both  the family and the Presider.

For information, please contact Cheryl Barrows at [email protected]

Medical Loan Closet (Deacon’s Closet)

For over 12 years, parish volunteers have collected  and distributed medical equipment to those in need  both within our parish and in our local community.

This much needed service has become more valuable as local government and private agencies have limited support.

The Medical Loan Closet welcomes your gently used, but no longer needed, medical equipment.

Currently we are especially in need of Manual wheelchairs and Transport chairs.

For information or to inquire about a drop off, please contact Paul Trueschler at [email protected]

Prison Ministry

Every Tuesday evening, between 7-8:30 pm,  two of our CCSFX parish members meet with approximately 2-9 male inmates at the Baltimore County Detention Center, on Kenilworth Drive in Towson.

Our purpose includes sharing the reading from the previous Sunday in order to instill a closer relationship with God.

We also try to offer hope, help the men transition when they leave, and foster their faith through the Word of God. Applying the Corporal Works of Mercy, we provide the Catholic point of view using Bible scripture.

Please join us in this beautiful ministry. If you are interested in finding out more, pleas e contact: John Brown at [email protected]
